    satellite photos and image overlays showing the impact of
    Hurricane Katrina. Includes before-and-after images and views of
    affected areas of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Requires
    free download of Google Earth (currently not available for Apple
    Macintosh or older Windows machines).

    GasBuddy.com can help you find cheap gas prices in your city. It
    is comprised of 170 gas price information web sites that help
    consumers find low gasoline prices." Search for prices by ZIP
    code. Information is member-supplied. Registration (free) required
    to post gas prices on most of the gas sites or to create a fuel
    log for tracking your expenses. Includes tips for conserving gas,
    links to news stories, and other resources.
  • MindZone: A Mental Health Site for Teens
    This site aimed at teenagers offers personal stories and suggests
    strategies for coping with mental health disorders. Visitors may
    take part in polls, learn about personal strengths and how to deal
    with emotions, find facts about anxiety disorders, and question
    experts. Content at this site is "reviewed by a psychiatrist

  • The Vertical Farm
    Discussion about the need for "vertical farms," a new approach to
    indoor farming. It is envisioned that such farms will be
     "efficient (cheap to construct and safe to operate) ... many
    stories high, [and] will be situated in the heart of the world's
    urban centers." The site features an essay, plans, and designs.

    Talking like a pirate is fun. It's really that simple. It adds a
    zest, a swagger, to your every day conversation." This humorous
    site celebrates a day of pirate talk with pirate lingo (such as
     "Arrr!" and "Ahoy!"), a pirate advice column, a newsletter,
    puzzles, a "pirate personality profile," Web links, and other
    silliness. (Caution: The "Top Ten Pirate Pick-up Lines" are a tad
    risqué.)
