Trick Our Book Truck Art Contest (pdf)
For 14 years The Lebanon Community Library has hosted our annual Write and Illustrate Your Own Book Contest for 1st - 5th grade students. This year we are joining forces with the Lebanon Valley Council on the Arts and offering two contests to offer all ages an opportunity to share their talents.
For the Write & Illustrate Your Own Book Contest one winner and one honorable mention were picked from each grade level.In addition to prizes, the first place winner in each
category will have the opportunity to read or have
read their story at the award ceremony during the festival. For the Story Writing Contest prizes will be awarded in the following
categories: grades 6-7, grades 8-9, grades 10-12, amateur adult, and professional adult. All winners from both contests will have their books professionally bound and those titles will become part of the library's collection.The library recently held its 13th annual Write and Illustrate Your Own Book Contest for 1st - 5th grade students. 95 students from twelve elementary schools and homeschools entered. One winner and one honorable mention were picked from each grade level. The winners' books will each be professionally bound and become part of the library's collection.
1st Grade:
Winner – Someone Special by Carly R. Sanders, Southwest Elementary

2nd Grade:
Winner - Jessica and the Magic Jelly Beans by Jessica K. Heister, Cornwall Elementary
Honorable Mention – The Groundhog Gang by Karl W. Machamer, New Covenant Christian School
3rd Grade:
Winner - Twisted Whiskers by Taylor Kauffman, South Lebanon Elementary
Honorable Mention – The Enchanted House by Evan Dissinger & Jake Booth, South Lebanon Elementary
4th Grade:
Winner – Best Friends by Cheyenne Baker, Southwest Elementary
Honorable Mention – Hamster and the Dust Bunny by Tristin Ralph, New Covenant Christian School
5th Grade:
Winner – Bailey at the Barre by Katie Wingert, Homeschooled
Honorable Mention – Homeless Hotel by Kayla Parks, New Covenant Christian School
The library recently held its 7th annual Poetry Contest. 160 poems by library patrons were submitted. Below are listed this year's winning poems and poets. This year's winning poems will be professionally bound together and create a volume entitled A Celebration of Poetry 2007, this will then be added to the library's collection.

The Concept: The Library has 3 old Book Trucks that are in need of some
paint and artistic improvements. You are being recruited to Trick them
out! Your mission if you chose to accept it, is to sketch out unique and
creative ways of decorating the carts (in keeping with the rules see pdf document below for more details). The 3 winning designs will be brought to life and will win cash & prizes! (pdf)
