Lebanon Community Library 2009-2010 Appeal
Help Us Reach Our Goal of $30,000 with Your Contribution

September 2009

Dear Friend,

The Lebanon Community Library has been providing outstanding service to the Lebanon area for 139 years. We offer FREE programs and services throughout the year that enrich our community. Children search for picture books; teens request books, music, and the Internet. Older patrons enjoy titles in large print and audio books. Plus bestselling fiction and informative DVDs are always in demand. The library is a place where individuals from every walk of life can connect and engage in lifelong learning.

The library is a sanctuary for learning, cultural activities, and recreation for many who cannot pay fees for these services. The importance of keeping the library full of books, well-staffed, and with access to computers and the Internet adds to the quality of life we share.

The library is an essential part of our community. And like you, the library is facing difficult financial challenges. We are doing more with less, while the demand for our service is increasing. Circulation is up 10%, and our visitors have increased by 18% from 2007 to 2008. Due to economic hard times this trend has no signs of slowing down soon.

While you personally may not walk through our doors, good library service is evident in our community. You can see the library’s influence on the community in the unemployed individuals using our computers for job searching, the families that use our wireless Internet to cut costs at home, the children that benefit from summer reading programs, the individuals attending book group discussions, the winners of our Poetry and Write & Illustrate Your Own Book contests, the community discussion sparked by the One Book, One Community regional reading campaign, and the vision impaired and blind individuals who receive library materials through our Books to Go program.

I am committed to providing the Lebanon Area with the
best possible library service.

Won’t you join me?

Your contribution can be used to purchase a book, DVD, CD, or audiobook for our collection, or you can choose to support the general operating fund. Your donation is a commitment to support lifelong learning and will impact local lives now and in the future.

- Jayne Tremaine, Executive Library Director

Please help us by sending a check to the library today. Your contribution will enable the
library to continue to serve the community and provide a cultural and educational gathering place.
A gift in any amount will be appreciated. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Jayne Tremaine
