Book Return: To
accommodate our patrons' busy schedules we have provided
two book returns. The outdoor book return is located on
the island in our parking lot. There is also a book return,
located on the outside of the building to the left of the
main entrance. Both book returns are open continuously for
the convenience of our patrons. In addition, inside the
Library, a drop slot is located at the lower end of the
Circulation desk to secure your returned items.
When returning our items
inside the library please feel free to ask a staff member
to discharge your materials when you return them, and provide
you with a receipt.
Reserves: We will
be glad to place a Reserve on any item within the county
at no charge. Reserves can be placed for you at a circulation
terminal. As a courtesy, please call the library if you
want to cancel a reserve because other patrons may be waiting
for the same materials.
Interlibrary Loan
If a needed item is not located within the county, we will
place an Interlibrary Loan request for you. Audio-visual
materials and items added to a librarys collection
within the previous six months generally cannot be requested
through Interlibrary Loan.
Please note that items
borrowed from outside the county may not have three week
loan period and must be returned on or before the lending
librarys due date. There may be a charge for this
service depending on the lending librarys policy.
Patrons will be notified
when materials arrive, and they will be held for one week.
The Library must charge $1.00 to patrons who do not pick
up a requested item.
At this time we cannot
request items from out of state via Interlibrary Loan.

patron per card. (The number of videos includes all items
checked out at Lebanon County libraries). Those videos
must be returned before borrowing others.
- Videos are loaned for 7 days. There is
a $1.00 charge for each day a video is overdue.
- Videos may be renewed twice for an additional
7 days (per renewal), by telephone, in person or on the
internet via your patron account.
- Videos may be returned in the circulation
desk drop box or in either outside book return.

borrower will be charged for the replacement cost.
- Remember to adjust the tracking on your
videocassette player if the picture appears fuzzy.
- The heads on your videocassette player
should be cleaned as recommended in your owners
manual. Dirty equipment can cause poor picture quality
and possible damage to the videocassette.
- The library is not responsible for any
damage that might occur to your videocassette player when
using a video borrowed from the library.

If items checked out to you are lost or damaged beyond repair,
you are responsible for their replacement costs and any
overdue fines incurred. Accounts can be settled at the Circulation
desk, where arrangements can be made for payment.
The card you have received creates a permanent
record in the Librarys database. Please let us know
as soon as possible if your name, address or other information
changes, or if your card is lost or stolen.

The Lebanon Community Library aims to develop collections,
resources, and services which meet the cultural, informational,
recreational, and educational needs of the community it
serves. It is within this context that the Lebanon Community
Library offers access to the Internet.
Resources available on the Internet supplement
and compliment the collections of the Library. The Library
does not monitor and has no control over the information
accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible
for its content. All Internet resources accessible through
the Library are provided equally to all Library users. Parents
or guardians, not the Library or its staff, are responsible
for their childrens use of the Internet through the
Librarys connection.
The Internet is not under one governing body.
Each site controls its own content. The Internet is a reflection
of society, therefore, whatever exits in the real world,
exists on the Internet. Since the Internet is an unregulated
medium, it enables access to materials that are personally,
professionally, and culturally enriching to individuals
of all ages, as well as materials which some may find offensive
or disturbing.
By using a public Internet workstation at the Lebanon Community
Library, you agree to the following guidelines.
Sharing the Net:
Public access to the Internet is available on a first-come,
first-served basis. Users must register with the Library
staff and provide a valid Internet identification card.
When others are waiting to use the Internet, usage is limited
to 30 minutes.
Getting Help:
The Librarys staff will assist patrons with Internet
use as time permits but cannot offer personal instruction.
Reference staff is always available to help patrons locate
books, periodicals, and videos about the Internet.
Downloading:
Downloads to disk must be made on a virus-free library purchased
disk. If the disk leaves the premises, it cannot be used
again in library computers. Users may download information
providing the downloading time does not exceed the scheduled
time slot.
Printing:
Printing costs are the same as the Librarys photocopier
costs ($.25). Users may print information from the Internet
providing the time used to print does not exceed the scheduled
time slot.
E-mail:
The Library does not directly provide electronic mail or
access to news and discussion groups, in part because other
resources on the Internet provide these services, as well
as commercial vendors. Patrons may use the Librarys
Internet computers to access accounts obtained through these
services as long as they do not require any alternation
of the computers resources or files.
Use of the Internet is a privilege, not a
right, and inappropriate use will result in a suspension,
and eventually cancellation, of this privilege. Examples
of inappropriate use include, but are not limited to, the
following:
- Violation of computer system integrity;
- Unauthorized tampering with computer hardware
or software;
- Storage of data to anything other than
a Library purchased diskette;
- Violation of software license agreements
and copyright laws:
- Violation of another users privacy;
- Use of sound or visuals which might be
disruptive to others;
- Viewing sexually explicit materials;
- Use of personal software;
Use of Library Internet workstations for commercial
use;Users are responsible for damage to equipment beyond
what occurs through normal usage. The signature on the Internet
Use Policy Registration Card is legally binding and indicates
that the party who signed has read the terms and conditions
of this policy and understands their significance. Children
under age 18 MUST have an accompanying signature of a parent
or legal guardian on the card. The Lebanon Community Librarys
Internet Identification Card must be visible at all times.
Adopted by the Board of Trustees of the
Lebanon Community Library October 1997

Patrons of the Lebanon Community Library deserved to find
our facility a peaceful, comfortable, pleasant and safe
place to read, study, browse or work. Our goal is respect
for the rights of all users, so we ask your cooperation
with the following guidelines.
- Shirt and shoes must be worn.
- Food, beverages and smoking are prohibited.
- Noisy, rowdy or otherwise disruptive behaviors
including running, fighting and roughhousing
are unacceptable.
- Tables and chairs may not be rearranged.
Sitting on tables or placing feet on tables or chairs
is unacceptable.
- The Librarys telephones are for staff
use only. For your convenience, a public pay phone is
located just outside the front door for patrons
use.
- Destruction or defacement of library materials
or property, or any other disturbing, threatening or potentially
criminal behavior will be referred to the police.
The Librarys security guard or any staff
member has the authority to enforce these policies. Failure
to follow these rules will result in expulsion from the
library. If anyone refuses to leave the library after being
requested to do so, the Lebanon Police Department will be
contacted.

To parents (or legal guardians)
We welcome your children in the library, but feel we must
establish guidelines for their safety while in the building.
- Every child has the right to use
the library and is assumed to be a patron in good standing
unless proven otherwise.
- Orderly behavior is required or the
child will be asked to leave.
- Children age six and under must be
accompanied by an adult or responsible teenager.
- The library takes no responsibility
for children left unattended, except in the case of library-sponsored
programs, and then only for the time the children are
actually attending the program.
- If the child cannot be picked up
as planned, please make other arrangements and notify
the library.
The library tries hard to provide a
safe environment for your children. We need your cooperation
in the making their experience a pleasant one.
