About Lebanon County Libraries

The Library System of Lebanon County (LSLC) is made up of six independent public libraries serving the information needs of Lebanon county residents.

LSLC provides the means for the six libraries to share resources. These shared resources include: online catalog system, technology support, and ebook lending.

Positions Available

Richland Community Library, serving Richland Borough and Millcreek Township in Lebanon County, seeks a part-time Youth Services Associate.

Youth Services Associate, Richland Community Library

Position Title: Youth Services Associate

Reports to: Library Director

Responsibilities: The primary duties of this position are to work with the Library Director to provide programming, promotional materials for all programming, readers’ advisory, and customer service to children, young adults, and caregivers. The Youth Services Associate will be in charge of planning and presenting a minimum of one story time per week, multiple Summer Learning events, and additional events for elementary and middle-school aged youth throughout the year. Secondary duties include assisting with maintaining the collections for children, as well as assisting at the Circulation Desk. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have a general knowledge of library principles, practices and materials.

This position requires frequent engagement with the public and providing patrons with basic reference and technology assistance. Candidates must have the ability to work in a community-oriented environment and have excellent customer service and computer skills.  STEM programming experience is preferred.  This position is part-time at 25 hours per week, including evenings and rotating Saturdays.  Hourly rate is between $13-$15, dependent upon qualifications.

Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree
  • Experience working with and presenting programs for children and young adults
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Must have a current Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Background check. Employment is contingent upon completion of the PA State Mandated Reporter Training within two weeks of start date.
