The 2020 Summer Learning Program, Imagine Your Story, begins June 8, 2020 with Lebanon County Libraries! Explore classic stories and fairy tales from around the world and discover new ones!
What does the Summer Learning Program look like this year? With our library buildings closed until further notice because of the pandemic, library staff are hard at work (from home of course!) adapting the Summer Learning Program to our social distancing community!
- Instead of attending a program at the library, attend programs virtually! Many of our scheduled performers will be offering their programs online, and we’ve even signed up a few more! Instead of visiting the library to report on your reading goals, log your reading goals virtually.
- All Summer Learning information, schedules, and reporting tools will be posted here.
- Instead of visiting the library to borrow books, borrow books from the eLibrary at https://lclibs.overdrive.com/
- We’ll also share announcements on the Lebanon County Library System’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/LebanonCountyLibraries).
We are grateful to the United Way of Lebanon County, the Bishop Foundation, and our local libraries’ Friends group for their support of the Summer Learning Program.
GO Lebanon will officially start on July 1st and run through August 30th. You will have until September 5th to enter your info into Beanstack (more info on that coming soon!). We will still issue rubbing sheets, but we will not be collecting them this year. You will earn credit for hikes by entering 4-digit codes, which are on the posts, into Beanstack through your local library. By doing this, we can eliminate people from touching the post (unless you choose to do the rubbing), but you will not turn that sheet in.
Additionally, we are encouraging all participants to continue to practice all safety guidelines recommended by the CDC. At this time, that includes social distancing, wearing masks if you cannot social distance, sanitizing or washing of your hands frequently, covering your cough or sneeze with your elbow, and limiting your exposure to large groups, especially indoors. We will also continue to follow each park’s rules for safety. At this time (and this may change), all park playground equipment is closed, as well as many restrooms. Please adhere to all park rules regarding the usage of their facilities. As things change, we will update the site. If for any reason a trail or park is closed and unaccessible for any reason, we will update on Facebook and the website.
We will post another update as we get closer to the start of GO Lebanon, with specific info on when and how to get your materials. In the meantime, be sure to visit your local library, virtually, and get a membership if you don’t have one.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work to bring this program to all of our followers. Until then, get outside and hike and be safe.
